LA DIMORA DEL VOLTO

"The site specific performance LA DIMORA DEL VOLTO is designed for the spaces of the Fondazione Merz in Turin and aims to establish a dialogue in proximity to the works of Marisa and Mario Merz, which are exhibited in their dedicated show 'La punta della matita può eseguire un sorpasso di coscienza' curated by Mariano Boggia.

LA DIMORA DEL VOLTO draws inspiration from the intuitive sense and the power of memory associated with the manipulated gesture, understood as a past gesture that stands on the threshold of contemporaneity. Objects and their presence will serve as the starting point for the creation of a choreographic performance consisting of 9 duets and a chorus performed by citizens, performers, and dancers. The intimate and whispered dances act in adjacency to the works. Starting from some 'intimate' objects of Marisa and Mario Merz, the actions reflect on the inexhaustibility and inappropriateness of the gesture, understood here as a source of resonance between the manipulative action and the suspension of dance. Returning the gesture to the object proposes and develops a visible dialogue in the transparency of the tactile space, in the manipulative strength of the sensory act, and stands on the threshold of the past.
